The Holy Bible (Scriptures)
We believe (affirm) that the entire Holy Bible (Scriptures) has (consists of)
sixty-six books including the Old Testament and the New Testament, in which
every word is inspired by God. Its original manuscripts are totally inerrant and
trustworthy. The Holy Bible (Scriptures) is the absolute (supreme) inspiration
and standards of the Christian faith and living.
God
- We believe in the only almighty and true God who is the Creator and Ruler of
the universe, and is God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit. He is the
triune God in three distinct Persons, but with same divine nature and
attributes, and who are equally worthy of worship.
- We believe that God the Father is the first Person of the true triune God.
He predestinated the redemptive plan according to His will, and sent His
only begotten Son to redeem those who believe in Him.
- We believe that Jesus Christ is the second Person of the true triune God,
the only begotten Son of God the Father. In His incarnation He was conceived
of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin. He possesses (has) full divine
nature and full human nature, and was not contaminated by sins, nor sinned
in His life. Therefore, He is able to be the Mediator between God and man.
He died on the cross for the sin of the world, fulfilled the Law of God
through His blood, and was bodily raised (resurrected) from death on the
third day. He ascended to Heaven and is the Mediator between God and man, so
that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life and not be condemned.
He will come to the world the second time according to His promise to judge
the alive and the dead, and will raise the bodies of the dead.
- We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the true triune God,
who eternally dwells in the hearts of believers after the Pentecost and
unites saints to Christ through the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Holy
Spirit convicts men to confess their sins, return to Christ, and renew their
life. The Holy Spirit always comforts, helps, and teaches believers, and is
the source of strength for believers.
Man
We believe that man was made in the image of God when God created the universe.
After man disobeyed the command of God, sin entered the world and penetrated the
entire human race. Therefore, human nature is totally corrupted, and unless man
accepts the salvation of God, he will eternally be separated from God and suffer
from eternal punishment in hell.
Salvation
We believe that salvation comes from the grace of God. In His substitutionary
death on the cross the Lord Jesus made provision for the redemption of men from
sin. Therefore, whoever repents and believes that Jesus Christ, the only
begotten Son of God, died for man's sins and was raised from death by God, shall
be saved. Upon salvation, the Holy Spirit dwells in the heart of the believer as
assurance of eternal salvation. Once a person is saved, he is eternally saved.
The Church
We believe that a church consists of a group of believers who are chosen by God
and is the body of Christ. Christ is the head of the church. Through the
guidance of the Holy Spirit, all born-again Christians unite with one another
and be (become) the parts of the church. The great commission of the church is
to proclaim the Gospel to all nations, make disciples of the Lord in the world,
and manifest the glory and beauty of God.
Sacraments
We believe that baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper are the only two
sacraments established (instituted) in the Holy Bible (Scriptures).
Baptism by immersion represents the believer's death, burial, and resurrection
with Christ. Baptism itself cannot remove sins; therefore, we only accept
believer's baptism by immersion and reject infant baptism. Baptism by immersion
is to immerse the entire body of the believer in water and then rise out of the
water.
The Lord's Supper is the partaking of bread and cup for believers to remember the
death of the Lord Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of the redemptive grace, and
to anticipate the second coming of the Lord. All born-again Christians shall
partake in the Lord's Supper together.
